The Parable of the Sheep Farmer
Defund the Police?
Let me tell you a little story about a humble sheep farmer named Tyler. No Tyler didn't have a great upbringing. Like a lot of young men in America today he came from a rough start. But somewhere along the way he found some semblance of order in the Navy and Christ. He seemed to be on a firm solid path when, as a veteran, he started a family and his own business tending to his sheep and selling the tanned hides to keep his family fed.
Still Tyler never shied away from controversy, for he became a fervently religious man, and like many of the devout he wore his beliefs on his sleeve. He would often speak against what he considered the heresies of the day and how he thought it was leading to this worlds demise.
One day while out tending his wares at the local market he got into a heated argument with a fellow citizen. Much like we see on all sorts of outlets today, He allegedly uttered some sort of troll remark, some sort of meme type rhetoric in response. It was deemed personally threatening by the receiver. These may not be things I would say in public, for I never want to play the heel for my oppositions foil. You leave yourself vulnerable sometimes when you show all your cards. They say that the evil carry dirty hands and the moral clean hands. Well I would like to think due to our modern world and the state it is in that I have no hands.
Well our humble sheep farmer allegedly said something akin to what we hear from many dissident corners today. Something along the lines of, "death to the gays" or "death to Israel". Me thinks it probably would have been better if he stuck with "death to America”, seems more PC. Apparently these are phrases that carries a lot of cachet in our modern world. A world fueled by technology, social media and drag queens reading bedtime stories to our kids and tucking them in at night.
In this moment of rage this utterance of his would quickly lead to a Domino reaction within the state apparatchiks. An encirclement that would take a few days to unfold. At first very casually, Tyler began to receive some online harassment. Then it began to escalate further. The sheep farmers vendors cut ties with him, canceling out his business and all livelihood. Then the local police started contacting him about his general threats of citing historical facts, which they seemed to not take very seriously and indeed chuckled a bit. Then likely some statist somewhere jumped the shark and 7 law enforcement agencies, a helicopter and an armored tank showed up at this sheep farmers house with hostage negotiators. They promptly arrested him, escorted him to a holding cell and set his bail at $1 million dollars so he would likely never see the light of day again anytime soon. Did I mention his wife is expecting another child AND has a terminal illness?
We see this play out in front of us day after day. Someone allegedly says something shocking either online or in a public setting that offends another person. Often these are deeply held religious or even simply sexual convictions on both sides. Then we see the religious and others persecuted for identifying what they believe is the downfall of mankind.
Do we want to live in a society where we would have to spend as many resources as we do policing these sort of thought crimes? Would such a society feel free? Would such a society be invulnerable to failure? Does such a society seem like a confident one? Or would the expenditures needed for such self policing eventually lead to its own demise. We are spending trillions building up armies to arrest our own citizens.
The noteworthy territory we are entering is that we are coming to a point where both the extreme left and the extreme right might finally agree on something. They may simply start to agree that we really do need to defund this leviathan known as the police-state. Simply because mankind's own society has encircled him so that he can no longer express his own thoughts.
Well where are we now? The sheep farmer is in jail. His wife and children have to go to sleep at night without their father. Despite his alleged violent tendencies, according to the state reports they were able to tear him from his family without him wishing death or harm upon anyone.
Where does this leave America? Social Media? Gab? The world?
I guess in a place where the only ones who are free are the ones who keep their mouths shut.
