If one seeks to find truth in this world you must understand history from the losers point-of-view. Once you start getting into dissenting literature that is when the third-eye becomes open.
History is written by the victors.
We all know this to be true, Why then do we trust History? It sure does tell a compelling story, but what if it is false?
Romanism was a rejection of Paganism
Christianity was a rejection of Romanism
Buddhism was a rejection of Hinduism
Islamism is a rejection of Judaism
Since the Victors write the history-books, at least the kind of books that they would like you to read, often the losers point of view has been completely cancelled & erased. Like the Mayans and the Aztecs and perhaps the Egyptians, The Ur, The Sumerians et al, The books have been burned and the statues toppled in many of these cases.
I remember witnessing in my schooling a glimpse of this early on. We had many Japanese foreign-exchange students. Once in a while one of the more, revolutionary and ornery of the bunch, would call into question certain topics that we had been taught on that Great War. “Did we have to drop Nukes? We had already won the war… Did we really need to insist the Emperor of Japan renounce his ties to God? Did the dropping of the bomb have more to do with repudiating and showing-up Stalin?”
"What a fool!" I had thought of this foreign classmate, in the naïveté of my youth. After all, we had won the War! Also is there really a good reason that men change their views? Do men become old and have any good reason to have regarded themselves as ignorant in their youthful ways?
Nah, Of course not!
Or perhaps counterintuitively, are these strong opinions exactly the ones that have their largest reversals later on? Especially now that I can actually go read the literature of the loser, Yukio Mishima! The Ultimate harikari-seppuku shinto-Master.
Dissidence & It's Utility
At some point recently I had become tangentially involved in some anti-consumerism website which had been purged from Silicon Valley. Proselytizing for Neo-Agrarianism of course! and I had been pointed to some very diversive and dissenting literature.
I dare not even mention the name of the book here publicly. On the pages of this book I found some of the most compelling rejections of modernity (albeit from an opposing view!), worthy of quotation:
The key is the total dropping out and away from the System. That in itself constitutes one of the greatest forms of attack. Carried to its conclusion, it would effect a moribund System caught alone, isolated in a mass of very angry people, eventually at their complete mercy. Passive resistance a la Gandhi only set in America? Perhaps…
A desperate, terrified and cut-off person with the full weight of the System upon him does not a good revolutionary make. But hundreds of silent 'drop-outs', if you will, no longer having life drained from them to the System but from the System to them, quiet for the moment, undetected and untouched, make a revolution in themselves.
I too seek a “total dropping out and away from the System…” I too have “made a revolution within myself…” I too support “Passive resistance a la …Amish?”
The truth that I had sought, the manifestations of a rejection of a system, who better to seek for inspiration, than the dissident. Even those revolutionary dissidents of which I may vehemently disagree. Dare they not bring about the same Answer that I seek, but vis-a-vis different Questions? Questions I would not even dare to ask, not publicly at least…
When you have truly read the history books of your fellow man from their point-of-view that is when you have walked a mile in their shoes. That is when the third-eye becomes open.
