In the time before humans roamed this Earth a large object struck ground off the Yucatan peninsula in what we now call the Gulf of Mexico. This event (Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event) created the Chicxulub crater and decimated the inhabitants of the Earth at the time. The torrent of water unleashed by the striking of this object would have caused Tsunamis all over the world, shaking the very tides that move time.
Sixty-six million years later it was March of 1519 on these very same shores. Hernan Cortes and his men were sailing off of the Yucatan peninsula after conducting a mutiny from the upper-management in Cuba. Senor Cortes may have hated his father-in-law boss, but what he was doing was in the name of the King! At least that is what he told his fellow mutineers at the time.
In the distance, on the beaches of the Yucatan, Hernan’s Men saw fires which marked to them the existence of another society on the shores. They saw for the first time, the Aztec people who called this place home. A people and Society that the Conquistadors would shortly tear-asunder in the name of Modernity.
Take a moment to think about these sole events, witnessed by few, and how they shaped the futures to come. Imagine for one moment that it is you sitting on this beach, by the bellowing fire, with your Aztec countrymen. Imagine witnessing those giant Square-Sterned Spanish Ships, of the likes you have never seen before. Slowly undulating & lurching towards you on the shore you call home. Much like that object that struck the Earth Sixty-six million years earlier, your traditional world was about to get a shake-up.
Dancing fires on the beach
Singing songs together
Tho it's just a memory
Some memories last forever
-Neil Peart
Close your eyes & cover your ears and take a few deep breaths. In your breathing you can hear the distant oceans of the past. Now imagine for one moment that this is your beach, your home, your family, friends & tradition that is about to be cancelled in the name of progress.
Why I detached from society.
When Great Heroes travelled across vast Lands & Oceans conquering Giants in struggles that took years in search of long lost homes. From the land of the Cyclops, to the Sirens call of Waifus on shore, Odysseus never forgot what he had once cherished. What Marcus Aurelius called, a return to man's nature. What the Great Sumerian King Gilgamesh found while looking for eternal life was that it does not exist and he should just go home.
Tyrants crossed Oceans to destroy homes in far away lands. To vanquish the cultures of others whom held ideas these tyrants never fully grasped. Despots conquering far away places to create fancy new homes for themselves & future generations. We can read from these historical accounts. But what are they asking of us? Are you even listening?
Where has your home within nature gone? In modern times can you even still find it?
If anything has become clear across the ages, and more even so today, it is that society and our fellow man, asks us, compels us, to act against our own & even man-kinds own natural interests. They ask us to sacrifice nature, our ancient traditions, ourselves & others upon the altar of society, in the name of modernity & Pax Americana.
Much like the Bourgeoisie is wrong for wielding power over others;
"the labourer lives merely to increase capital, and is allowed to live only insofar as the interest of the ruling class requires it." 1.
What would be a good discussion about society and economics if we didn't bring the old dirty professor marx into the fold?
Marx was incorrect in that he embraced a one-world proletariat-collectivist technological-dominated society which sort of sounds like the dim-wit Democracy we have today.
Marx is so cynical in fact, that he muses, “well since the bourgeoisie already ruined your family ruined your tradition and made communal property of your women. Marxism is an improvement.”
Wrong again Karl…
Do the Ayn Rand Loving Capitalists offer a more distinct future? Let me just copy and paste my critique of Marx here:
“one-world bourgiouse-individualistic technological-dominated society which sort of sounds like the dim-wit Democracy we have today..”
Is that much better now that we changed out two words? proletariat-collectivist versus bourgiouse-individualistic. The result is still the same. A Technocratic-Democracy.
Well I'm here to tell you that I want none of any of this. I want you to keep & retain your family, keep your tradition and keep your individual sovereignty. Whether Bourgeoise or Prol I want you to be the best that you can be and not at the expense of anyone else.
Where does a rejection of modernity & a return to tradition live in Marxist or Randian world? It doesn't. Perhaps Democracy inevitably leads to a communist-capitalist Society? Which is one of the main reasons why perhaps we should ask if democracy is even the answer. We must ask ourselves, in order to prosper don’t we need to live within our own nature?
Many of our countrymen toil as either highly paid cogs, or lowly paid automatons. Most of our countrymen live completely separate from the biological forms of nature from which they came. We work and toil for what exactly?
Is it no surprise that half the country is high on the literal opiates of the masses? Many of our youths find solace in the un-reality of video games. Or for them, are games the only reality left? The only place they can take part in any sort of power-process. It surely must be better than the future here on this Earth that they see for themselves.
Is it no surprise that many of our fellow country-men and women hate who they are and want to slowly destroy themselves? While us civilized happy-haphazard-drunkards call it forward-moving progress of course! Some even more cynical than myself wantonly refer to these as means through reducing population via vice and pandemics.
Let us fully face the reality we live in. Society has reduced many of us to cogs in a poorly run broken down machine. Perhaps someone, or something, can stop the engine suddenly? Or maybe this is suicide? Maybe you need to fix your relationship with the machine and gain some knowledge of how the machine works before you tinker with it.
Let's explore, Why is Society heading down this path obliviously?
While societies crumbled in the fading years of the Egyptian empire, the Egyptians built the tallest man-made structures for thousands of years (until 1840!). Why? And How?
Pure Hubris, plus a lot of inertia.
Once you get that ball rolling it's really hard to stop it. Once you've built one small pyramid, and enslaved a small number of people, in the name of progress of-course! Why not move on to the world's largest building project and jobs programs known to man? It worked the first time…
How do you even slow down that inertia? You can't.
If you're reading this, I bet you think you're smart. Not super smart, but certainly clever for the most part and Society knows exactly this. So how does Society turn this against you? By harnessing your brain power, or to a lesser extent these days, brawn power, to do what it sees fit.
Ask yourself, is your work everything you ever wanted in life? Do you find what you do to be personally challenging? If your answer is No to both, This blog is definitely for you.
We live in a world most influenced by con-artists, grifters and busybodies. The powerful rule, not the passive. Every single day Society asks you to use your brain or your brawn to further their means, but to what end? The end is a power game, and that power is over you and the rest of your cohorts.
Why do you let them do this? Because what else is there. You need to survive after all… But is being at the bottom of a pyramid of grifters survival?
Did you know that you have the power all on your own to resist them? Did you know that just your resistance alone is all it takes to overpower them in your life? Marx knew this! John Galt knew this! Henry David Thoreau knew this! Gandhi knew this! Martin Luther King knew this! Friggin Mother Theresa even knew this! Wake Up already! Read some Alexander Dugin if you need really need to.
One of my favorite things, almost more special than learning something new, is when you learn something, and you had already known it, but had arrived at that conclusion via other means. Often you come to learn over time that you have been double or even triple correct!
Let me tell you more about this choice. Perhaps you haven't thought of it, but let me tell you right now that it is single-handedly the most powerful 4D chess move you can make.
Importance of Home, Tradition & Redemption through Detachment
In the game of Life people have to want to play that game with you. Is the current game fair to you? Let me ask quite simply; What good is a game where You end up losing or even better yet you get some token reward for being busy, but not actually accomplishing anything of value.
When I was a young man, people saw in me a proficiency for computers. Computers brought forth a whole new world in front of me. A world seemingly of my own creation? It wasn't.
I was just a cog. Sure, I focused on the things in computers which interested me the most and for a long time that brought fulfillment. But it was always tempered with, what would bring the firm money. And not just money but power.
How could the firm take the brains of all its workers and turn it into profit and power over industries and others. After all, If we failed at this mission the firm went bankrupt and we would all have to get new jobs. Interviewing, climbing a new hierarchy and re-settling into a new cubical-pod is immensely annoying & chaotic for an Autist.
I thought for a long time that this was a good thing and I happily accomplished whatever tasks or hurdles the machine would create for me. How else could I improve my chosen profession and further my career? At some point early on even I realized that this was all just a giant jobs-program game.
So how did I turn the game in my favor? By not participating. By forging my own world.
When a great prophet once said, “Render unto Caesar What is Caesar's”, this prophet pointed out the obvious alternative; What if you created a world in which Caesar was simply absent? In which Cesar did not exist.
When Ghandi or some Tea Party shows their ultimate act of rebellion against the machinery of salt and tea they show us once again that what the prophet said was true. When some Thoreau or Theodore builds his cabin in the woods, they prove yet again that the simplist way to avoid bending to Caesar's will is to create a world in which Caesar does not exist. The only mistake they made is having to leave the world of the cabin…
Take a look at billionaires… Actually No, don't. You will never be one.
No, instead, Take a look at the Amish. What about the North Greenland Native seal skin wearing Inuits? (it is really cold there) So let’s try something warmer, What about native Kenyans?
They all happen to be as happy as billionaires, so they all serve as a decent proxy. Are you as happy as a billionaire? What do the Amish & Inuits have that you don't, other than retro clothing?
They have an entire world that they forged themselves. They have an entire power process and hierarchy that they themselves control. They have the key to human fulfillment, just like the billionaires aye?
What do the billionaires and Amish both have in common? Power over self. Sure being King Zuck sure sounds a lot more fulfilling and powerful than being Amish, but is it? Inversely, Who is not happy at all according to the science. The people of Fresno California and Calcutta India. Somehow modernity isn't so great for them.
Perhaps then you are still not yet convinced of how detaching yourself from society can fix that society. I get it. Recently I wrote a book about Goat Farming and I thought it's needs we're obvious. It wasn't. I didn't properly explain why and how you should detach.
Let me try a more poetic approach. A great poet Neil Peart again once said,
She'll go walking out that door
On some bright afternoon
To go and paint big cites
From a lonely attic room
Perhaps even the clever person that you are, you still have big... BIG ambitions! You still want to paint big cities, You're just not willing to do it in your lonely attic room quite yet and you still actually want to live in these ambitious Squire make-a-stir metropolises.
Let me just remind you however, That the only people painting big cities these days are Lord Jeffrey B, King Zuck and all the proverbial homeless wanderers spray painting the streets, have you well, with their bodily fluids. Does your lonely attic room sound better now?
But it doesn't have to be an attic. depending on your budget perhaps at first, maybe it's just a Prius. Perhaps at first depending on your boldness, It's just an SUV or a van or a pickup truck. Perhaps depending on your budget & fortitude you're ready for an off-grid uber-farm. (shameless plug)
How?
Maybe I haven’t convinced you at this point. Or maybe you're just wondering what more this crack pot has to say. Either way let's cut to the chase on how you can detach yourself from the system.
It is not easy and most of all, each person is different. The most important part is finding your ideal. Perhaps some of you, like the Amish, would like to pursue an agrarian life. Perhaps others are more thinkers. Imagine all those books you've always wanted to read. And for others, the tinkerers, imagine all the projects you want to complete. Perhaps for the cursed gypsy amongst us, you want to travel (in your vehicle of course). - stay tuned for a future article on how to make your own fuel -
Perhaps all of these things are worthy of pursuing all at once. But how do you do it? Yes, perhaps you're not in a good state today. Perhaps your finances are not even in order. Perhaps your goals are not even well-defined.
I would recommend that you take at least 3-4 weeks and separate yourself from the rest of the world. You can still hang out with your friends and family of course, but spend at least 3 weeks, without any modern technological device. Just you and your mind and the occasional acquaintance perhaps, and by about the third week ideas should start percolating in the very least.
These ideas may be wrong at first, So do not always trust the first one that comes to your mind. If you need to seek outside information and guidance, you may seek it but do not get distracted by anything else.
If I was to say some of the most important goals in separating yourself from society would be:
Zero debt to that society.
A storage of goods that you “used to” acquire from society.
Means of refilling this minimal amount of goods infrequently.
A craft which can keep you happily busy and can earn you a means of creating value for yourself and your world.
Redemption
Let us pick up back where we began. Home is where you're most comfortable. Home iss where you can kick your feet up, relax and just be yourself. Home is where you will find redemption.
Your home can be a box or a vehicle, or an estate. Whatever you choose for your home just make sure that it is yours and that it serves your purpose.
Perhaps, like me, you want to start a goat farm?
A diesel shop?
A family?
Whatever you desire in your quest for a traditional way of life, that is worthy of pursuing, Really... It is hard to go wrong this time. After-all man travelled across Babylon and the Mesopotamia and the Oceans to find his home. You too can find it.
I will leave you with this. When King Gilgamesh, after travelling in vain in search of the holy grail, the fountain of youth, he then actually learned what he was really after. It was right in front of his face all along.
Gilgamesh, accept your fate… Each day, wash your head, bathe your body, and wear clothes that are sparkling fresh. Fill your stomach with tasty food. Play, sing, dance, and be happy both day and night. Delight in the pleasures that your wife brings you, and cherish the little child who holds your hand. Make every day of your life a feast of rejoicing! This is the task that the gods have set before all human beings. This is the life you should seek, for this the best life a mortal can hope to achieve.
This is truth. This is reality. This is what you must reclaim from the death grip of modernity…
